Biography
Barbara Evon Ridout was born August 3, 1942, in Clinton, MD. She was the daughter of the late Dora M. Howell: stepdaughter of late Silvester Howell: mother of the late Tonya Ridout: and sister of the late Ricardo Wilson. On the day of Our Lord, Tuesday, April 7, 2009, God in His infinite wisdom sent His precious angels down to welcome her home to eternal rest. Barbara was the eldest of eight children. She was educated in the Public Schools of the District of Columbia. She was baptized at Our Lady of Pertetual Help Roman Catholic Church were she received all of her Sacraments. She was united in Holy Matrimony on May 19, 1960 to the late Charles Samuel Ridout, Jr. From this union three children were born, Charles Samuel Ridout III, Lisa Ann Ridout, and the late Tonya Marie Ridout. Barbara retired from the Federal Government in 2002 after 25 years of service. She started her professional career at the United States Interstate Commerce Commission and later transferred to the United States Department of Transporation were she worked as a Transporation Assistant. Upon retirement, she devoted her time to her family and friends. Although she was short in stature, she was tall in spirit, compassion and love. She was affectionately known as “Puddin” to her family and close friends. She was always willing to listen to others and give advice. She never saw a challenge she could not overcome; either in her own life, her children, or her extended family. Barbara was a very giving person and had a genuine concern for others. She loved shopping with family and friends. She was very thoughtful and would often shop for others. If you didn’t have quite enough money, she would say “pay me back later.” She enjoyed talking on the phone. One of her favorite TV shows were Dancing with the Stars. After a hom-cooked meal, her favorite treats were a Pepsi and an orange hostess cupcake. Barbara leaves to cherish her memories two children, Charles Samuel Ridout II, Lisa Ann Ridout; five sisters, Carolyn Weaver, Valencia Canady, Sharon Wilson, Cynthis Howell, and Pamela Moseley; one brother, Silver Howell, six grandchildren, Laycie, Christopher, Monet, Claby, Toya, and Henry. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friend
